SUMMARY:The Colors of Spring - Work by Kevin Gref and Steve Davis
DESCRIPTION:New work by artists Kevin Gref and Steve Davis will be displayed at Domesticities from April 11th through May 17thth. There will be a reception on April 11th at 3 pm. \nThe Colors of Spring as represented in Kevin’s use of muted hues and Steve’s use of bright tones provides a wonderful way to welcome the new season and appreciate how color in all its forms brings art to life. Kevin and Steve each use wood in vastly unique ways making this art exhibit intriguing but also must-see. \nAfter retiring from a career as a carpenter\, Kevin returned to his artwork in a sunny studio in downtown Jeffersonville. There he began to experiment with steam-bent white oak\, cherry\, and other hardwoods. \nSculpting with wood is his preferred medium. Prior work was a carving process as opposed to assembly\, a method which emphasizes shape and form alongside color. “The three of these together – shape\, form and color – depend upon one another and give each piece its character and unique quality\,” says Kevin. \nA native New Yorker and Youngsville resident\, Steve has been exhibiting his work for many years in New York City\, Westchester and Long Island as well as at CAS in Livingston Manor.  Steve is an expert with color\, creating patterns and combinations which he puts to clever use in his Bargello pieces. Bargello is a form of needlework. \nHe also developed a unique style creating houses on canvas. His style has been called unusual\, quirky\, whimsical\, and certainly all his own. The works are made with balsa wood\, corrugated cardboard\, ribbon\, fabric\, and art papers. \nDomesticities is located at 4055 State Rte 52 in Youngsville. \n \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Join us for a reception with Alexis Siroc discussing her new eco prints with drawing. \n“The garden is my sanctuary\, my solace\, which I fondly refer to as my wild garden. It’s a combination of intentional plantings and letting things take their natural course. When I discovered eco printing I quickly became obsessed with the process. It reminds me of my gardening style—letting things happen with only some control on my part. Once I started eco printing on fabric I felt the need to add line to my prints. After some initial research and experimenting my paper prints were ready to take on a layer of drawing. The work presented in Garden Party continues this exploration of eco printing with drawing.”

SUMMARY:Treelines and Shorelines -- Inspired by Nature
DESCRIPTION:Jeffersonville artist Suzanne Andrews will exhibit at Domesticities through July 13th. \nAndrews explains that “as an artist with a background in biology\, my creative journey is a reflection of my deep emotional connection to the natural world\, especially the Adirondacks\, and a pursuit of realistic\, detailed representations inspired by nature’s beauty.” \nWith its specific focus\, “Treelines and Shorelines” explores nature at its edges – where land meets water and earth meets sky.  Andrews uses watercolor or ink and pencil to authentically portray the intricate beauty and tranquility of landscapes\, ecosystems\, and the flora and fauna within them. \nMeet the artist at the opening reception Saturday\, June 21st from 2 – 4 pm.  The show will be on display until July 13th during regular business hours.  Domesticities is located at 4055 State Rte 52\, Youngsville\, NY 12791. \n###
