    Remaking the world – paintings from 2024 – 2026

    Sharon Molloy will be exhibiting new paintings that explore her relationship to nature, technology, God and the sublime, along with a series of new plein air paintings from Sullivan County and around New York State. The exhibit runs from September 5th through 27th with an opening reception Saturday, September 12th from 3 – 5 pm. Domesticities is located at 4055 State Rte. 52 in Youngsville.

    Overlaying abstract and synthetic patterns onto nature and embedding them within landscapes, clouds, and seascapes Molloy attempts to go deeper into the question of what is the nature of reality. What is our relationship to the natural as humans attempt to ‘remake the world’ in our own image? As we merge into an increasingly artificial and technological reality, how do we discern truth, authenticity, identity and the sacred? Can painting in theage of AI remain relevant? Her plein air paintings depict the natural world at its finest.

    Originally from the UK, Sharon Molloy has lived and worked in Parksville, upstate New York, since 2002. In 1998 she attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and then moved to New York City for a one-year residency at the Sharpe Studio program in Manhattan. She graduated her BFA in Fine Art in1990 at Winchester School of Art in England and received her Masters in Fine Arts in 2005 in San Francisco. Sharon has shown her work internationally and has also been included in various publications- such as ‘Visual Complexity, Mapping Patterns of Information’ by Manuel Lima, Seed Magazine for Arts and Science. In 2018 ‘Infinite Fields’ was installed in the Elevator Gallery, also at CAS. In 2019 ‘Line is a Force, a solo installation was shown at Gallery 222 in Hurleyville, NY. She has been the sole owner of Transformational Spaces, a faux finishing and mural painting business for over twenty years.

    An exhibit of photographs by Maureen Neville premieres July 3rd

    Photographer Maureen Neville will present an exhibit of her photographs at Domesticities from July 3rd through August 3rd with an opening reception on July 11th from 2 – 5 pm.

    Drawn to the sea from an early age, Maureen spends a significant amount of time by the ocean. Her show will feature photos taken from her time spent on Block Island (Rhode Island) this past February. Maureen weathered the infamous blizzard of 2026 in a house right on the water. When she finally shoveled herself out, she stepped outside to a fairy tale world full of inspiration. About her work, Maureen states, “Solitude is important to me and an inspiration for photography. I find myself drawn to places with an absence of crowds, particularly near the water. Riparian by nature, I can be happy near an ocean, lake, river, or pond. Simple quiet moments are often the most powerful, with just me and my camera. A quiet exuberance.”

    The images in this exhibit also convey Maureen’s deep love for the bucolic setting just outside her own door. Her house is directly across from a farm pasture and a few miles from the Delaware River. Her love of photography began in Key West, where she lived for over twenty years. While in Key West, Maureen studied photography briefly but put her camera aside for many years. She finally picked up her camera again with a more serious focus about 10 years ago.

Overlaying abstract and synthetic patterns onto nature and embedding them within landscapes, clouds, and seascapes, Molloy attempts to go deeper into the question of what is the nature of reality.     Originally from the UK and with a BFA and an MFA, Molloy has exhibited internationally as well as locally. She has resided in Parksville, NY since 2002 and owns Transformational Spaces, a successful faux finishing and mural painting company.
