ABOUT SEARCHING for JOHN SMITH

At six years old, Julia’s world shatters when she loses her parents in a
tragic accident on a busy highway in Ohio, when their car runs out of gas.
Fast forward two decades, and she’s in Baja, Mexico, vacationing alone
when she meets John Smith. He’s a captivating, upbeat soul—a reformed
drug dealer turned gem trader from Santa Cruz, California, and they dive
headfirst into a whirlwind romance that awakens a joy in her that has long
been dormant since her childhood.

Just when everything seems perfect, fate throws a curve-ball. Julia finds
herself once again stranded with an empty gas tank, this time on a barren
desert road with John Smith. The narrative unfolds through her passionate
journey with John, then her daunting search that follows his baffling
disappearance, spanning across Santa Cruz and San Francisco. This tale
is set in the vibrant 1970s, a time before the digital age altered our
connections, offering a rich tapestry of the cultural, social, and sexual
dynamics of that era.
